The Opportunity
KSB Technologies were entrusted by Aston Martin F1 to successfully create a “Vanilla” Azure Integration Platform. This foundational platform has now been set and serves as the springboard for further development and diverse use cases. A significant consideration was the Formula 1 cost cap, a crucial business constraint that demanded astute financial management of the development, manufacturing, and operation of your race cars. Any overspend, even if unintentional, would attract stringent penalties. We successfully tackled various use cases that were identified, including People processes (onboarding of starters, internal movers, and managing leavers), the transition of parts from Design to Manufacturing, and management of Goods Inward. The key systems we interfaced with include PLM (design) and IFS (Manufacturing / ERP / People). The Azure Integration Services were the chosen technology stack, and we leveraged its myriad capabilities to drive this project to its successful conclusion.
Key Features
Integration Platform-as-a-Service
Low-code development
Consumption-based pricing
SOAP to REST conversion
API Management, including security and discoverability
Support for event-driven architectural patterns
Excellent observability and supportability
The Impact
This project was successfully delivered, demonstrating these capabilities within the context of two test use cases that verified the platform. These tests served as effective smoke tests, provided as part of the platform. The platform offered a complete technology stack based on Azure Integration Services, utilizing Platform as a Service (PaaS) based services.
